About slab

Handmade jewellery inspired by 16th-century Memento Mori treasures, designed for individuals who aren’t afraid to express their individuality. Influenced by sub-cultures and reliquaries, SLAB Jewellery combines skulls, roses and sharp halo spikes, each piece one-of-a-kind and finished by hand in my Bristol workshop.

SLAB Jewellery was founded on an ethos of original design, traditional craftsmanship and eco-friendly production. Each piece is handcrafted in recycled gold or silver, using antique tools and the traditional lost-wax casting technique. Intricate models are hand-carved in wax, resulting in a unique character and a beautifully textured finish. Each design can be crafted in satin-effect or blackened silver, plated with a thick, five-micron layer of rich 18kt gold, or cast in solid 9kt yellow gold.

Hannah

With a background as an art director and designer, I’ve always been drawn to the darker elements of fashion and aesthetics. I struggled to find jewellery that satisfied my desire for boldness and individuality, while still being versatile enough to wear every day. I was fascinated by Memento Mori jewellery, but found a lot of skull rings were either too macabre or too cutesy. I began SLAB Jewellery with a series of hand-carved skulls, neither too literal nor too stylised, each one infused with a distinct personality. That grew into a range of responsibly crafted adornments with just the right amount of attitude.
